The following formulas are used in the various tests available with your
OSA module.
EDFA Noise Figure Calculation
The EDFA noise figure is calculated using the following equation:

is the power of the spontaneous emission amplified by the EDFA,

is the power of the spontaneous emission of the source,
G is the gain at this channel’s wavelength,
h is Plank’s constant (6,6256 x 10

is the frequency of the channel, and
B is the noise equivalent bandwidth, as calibrated at this channel’s
wavelength.
